Coffee Filter Paper Rainbow Technique

Woohooo TGIF !!! Hi hope you’re looking forward to your weekend. I might crack open the wine in a minute its been a tough week and I have another tough one ahead of me but it should culminate with Peace and Serenity as I leave for Monk Fryston Hall on Friday for my Second PapeRie trEAT. A treat I am hoping it will be and I am sure the EAT will happen for sure, I cannot wait now.

So you know I promised you a technique? well I wanted to shoot a video for it but I have to be realistic and not give myself more work at the minute, I can barely cope with what I have. So here  am with a short photo tutorial for this

This was a technique we showcased in our training last Sunday, a bit messy but so much fun. It was inspired by a blog posted by Stampin’Up! on their blog with a bit of my style doctoring.

So here’s what you have to do to achieve this cool effect

Start with a piece of acetate or transparency. Grab a few Stampin‘Up! markers. I used Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green, Midnight Muse and Rich Razzleberry.

Next lay down the colour on the acetate sheet, the trick is not to draw clearly defined straight lines here, a bit more fluid and try and gently blend from one colour to the other. Spritz the colour liberally with water or with isopropyl alcohol if you want it to be quick drying. Word of warning if you use alcohol you will need to have a bit of patience, at first the colours will resist it takes a bit of time for the ink to mix with the alcohol. As soon as you see the colours all blended take a piece of Filter Coffee paper and lay it down on top of your wet rainbow, rough side down.

 

Let the filter paper dry then using a Glue stick cover a piece of card stock add your rainbow paper and cut to size.

You can now stamp on it and use it as you wish. Here’s close up of the fabby card I made with my piece.
