Because I Care- Bleaching Technique

Hiya how are you doing? I had it planned to blog earlier but things didn’t work out so here I am. Before I share with you today’s card I want to say that there is  ONLY ONE PLACE LEFT in my marker share. This means we only need one more person to join a share at £23/month for the next 4 months. By the end you will receive your full CASE of markers. You can find out more about them HERE.
Right then today’s card features an old technique Bleaching. I have to admit to rarely using it, but I played with different ways of colouring on darker card stock lately and this is one of the wonderful ways you can achieve this look.
hydrangea_The card stock base and designer paper are Not Quite Navy, the main layer River Rock and a very vanilla layer peeking from behind. The other stamp set used is the gorgeous French Foliage from the Stampin Up mini catalogue. The text was stamped in crumb cake ink on the vanilla layer along with the seal stamp which was inked using a not quite navy ink pad.
For the focal panel I used River Rock card, I stamped the gorgeous hydrangea head from the hostess set *Because I Care*and heat embossed in black , I then bleached the image using a paintbrush and neat household bleach.

After it dried I started adding colour using the markers. The effect is wonderfully rich and the flower head really stands out against the darker background. I have used the following markers to colour with: Bashful Blue and Pacific Point for the flowers and Pear Pizzaz and old Olive for the leaves. I have also used a Signo white pen to add some highlights in the centre of the tiny flowers. Markers are fabulous for colouring techniques they blend easily and you have the benfit of being able to use them on the rubber stamps as they are waterbased not alchool based.
Here are the measurements for the layers and a list of supplies.
Not Quite Navy Designer Paper from the Regals collection stack cut at 9.5 cm x 14cm
River Rock layer measures 7cm x 11.5cm
