New baby girl

And she is beautiful!!! After all the sad news over the last few weeks I had a happy one. My colleague's daughter gave birth to a cute little angel on Sunday night. They called her Faith Evelynn and she is like a little doll ( been to visit, sniff and cuddle LOL)

This is the card I made for her mummy.

I have seen this type of cards everywhere and was itching for a chance to create my own. I have used my Coluzlle to cut the circle out then simply sliced a quarter of the circle away. I have used the CB Polka Dot embossing folder to emboss the pretty in pink layer, made the wheels from the 1", 11/4" and 13/8" circle punches, sentiment came for the Fun and Fast Notes, the scalloped canopy made with Fiskars Threading Water punch and made the cute teddy using more circle punches, 1 1/4, 3/4 and 1/2 inch. Here s a close up of the teddy

So very cute, and of course note how I added a brad to act as a dummy? love it!!.

Here s a picture of a cute little gift bag I found to pop a little gift in. i have spent a wonderful day on Monday with one of my downline Sally, and in her village they have the most beautiful gift shop ever. It was here I found this cute felt baggie and bought it along with a few yummy gifts

Added a bit of ribbon and a little stamped label using the frame with a flourish set and Voila!!

Made a quick card for the proud nana as well.

This combo was born by mistake as I have grabbed my green galore marker to colour the pram thinking it was Certainly Celery, I liked the contrast between the bright green and Regal rose and just went for a green galore card blank, well I am not overly impressed but the brights are not high on my favorite colours apart from Real Red and Tempting Turquoise. Simple layout again the image is from the Fun and Fast notes set coloured using the markers, congratulations sentiment from the cheers and whishes set.

Hope you like my cuties today see you again soon. Hugs Monica xxx

We're back!!!

Hello we got back last night, shattered and just in time for a live event I had organized with the lovely Passionettes. It was a lovely weekend and even though we never did made the London Zoo we still had a lot of fun. We visited the RAF Museum in Colindale Sunday before heading back up North and I really, really enjoyed it!! I didn't think it will fly my plane (not funny I know) but it did, I found it fascinating.
So amazing getting so close to those wonderful planes each with their history, we could have spent hours there but we did not have them to spare. We have decided to return some other time.
I know you re probably wondering how the boy is, well one word will describe him right now and that s boisterous, golly gosh talk about strong minded, I pity my poor sister even though she copes so well with him and manages to keep him told, while I don't stick a chance at telling him off. I was cleaning my teeth Saturday morning and he was assisting me perched on the toilet seat, well you know when you scoop water with your hand to get some water and rinse the toothpaste? I never thought about it and next thing I know he is trying to imitate the exact movement and water gets everywhere. Seeing him doing was sooo funny so instead of telling him to stop all I could do was laugh which sent him laughing and doing it again LOL. Mummy walks in shortly after so by now you get the picture LOL.
We kept laughing about it afterwards. Here s my favourite picture of the weekend an ***All teeth smile*** shot, KUTe!!
Crafting news? well Sunday is the day a new challenge gets posted over at SWUS and this weeks is a 2 designer papers, one ribbon, one piece of hardware. Here is my card
Love this colour combo a lot. Choc chip, Cameo Coral and So Saffron. I used So Saffron designer papers and I have over stamped one layer using the Hostess level 2 stamp set Fall Flair. I had this set since the beginning of this new catalogue and I recently found it behind a unit in my craft room, it must have fell behind it and I forgot that I even got it, needless to say I delved in straight away and used it here. The beautiful sentiment from Occasional Greetings was inked using the markers, taffeta ribbon finishes off this elegant looking card. The ribbon slide was filled with glitter and the brads were glitter covered as well.
Ok I ve got to go as I ve got some projects to finish for some online classes? Have you registered yet?
See you again very soon. Monica xxx

London hello!!

Hi guys, well we made it safe on Friday even though the drive down was horrendous, we left just after 10 and only got to my sisters at 2.30. a long drive to say that it only normally takes us 2 and a half hours( reason? some scarey looking accidents). At least I took a lap tray with me and a cute project I was working on for the Summer Design challenge form Stampin'Up, and the good news is that I finished the project by the time we got to London. I am going to tell you bit more about this design challenge because you might want to join in yourself and win some FREE stamps.

When you join my team you get to register to a website and here you get to put down a few favorite things as well as your birth date. Now Clair and Sharni come as a one, so like any fabulous mother out there Clair put her daughter s first and Sharni's details were put down

Pink Passion, Old Olive and Haiku designer papers makes for a wonderful and summery combo. The bold flower is from the level 2 hostess set Cause for Celebration, and they were stamped in Pink Passion and cut out. I hope you can forgive my Clair and I hope you has a wonderful day. Hugs M xx

Happy mail.....

...and sad cards!!
Hellooooo well I am impressed with myself as it seems I am managing to blog regularly again, hooray!!!
I will start with my happy mail. Because I live 5 min away from work I like to come home in my lunch hour check my emails or sometime make a card if I am in a rush for one. Today I got in to a lovely parcel that has been delivered. Now you probably are familiar with this creative and lovely lady here. Ann makes the most gorgeous hand crocheted apples I have ever seen and I fell in love with. So I went ahead and bought one Ann even made me a baby apple on a key ring which I've decided I will use as a handbag/tote charm. Look at those little beauties
I just love them, and the packaging was delightful. You just cannot beat handmade and I am delighted with them. I think I will use the big one in my craft room, maybe as a pin cushion for my vintage pins to have them on display.

The key ring had a lovely charm attached to it

Is soo bootiful isn't it? Thank you so much Ann I love them.
The last two weeks were a bit of a sad time as I have found out of five deaths, close friends and close family members have been affected ( my BIL father died last Sunday) so I had a load of cards to make. Here's some of them
I like to keep sympathy cards plain. Bashful Blue card stock, Live Your Dream stamp set was embossed in white then some brilliant blue was rubbed over the embossed image, the background was stamped in Versamark then Brilliant Blue chalks have been brushed over to highlight the pattern.
Second one is made with the Bloomin With Beauty

Plain white card stock a metal edged tag, those are really cool they have a smooth paper centre perfect for stamping on, the image was coloured with the markers decoupaged and popped out on dimensionals.
I am leaving for London tomorrow morning for a full weekend with my sweet Luca, my sis and BIL. YAY!! I cannot wait!!
See you all soon. Monica xx

A lazy Sunday afternoon....

... I am having!! Hello are you chilling too? the weather is not that good in Yorkshire today, we had some showers earlier but it stopped now and I am lounging about. I love lazy Sunday's is not that often that we get them so is really nice, been shopping this morning (didn't make it yesterday as we ended up visiting) we had a lovely lunch overlooking the Hull Estuary then back home and now I've decided to blog.
Is Sunday and it means that a new challenge has been posted over at SWUS. I struggled with this one a bit but I suppose that s why is called a challenge. This was the inspiration photo, lovely beach scene, oh how I wish I was there. I really had a hard time deciding what set to use how to arrange my colours so in the end I choose a pretty basic layout and pulled out the yummy Tart and Tangy. I have made some strawberry jam recently and a few jars will go to my SIL when we visit next. I thought it would be a good idea to make a matching card. I have made the glass bowl from a piece of vellum that I have embossed using the bubble CB folder, then I simply filled it with yummy strawbs.

Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue, Real Red and Old Olive, plus a tiny bit of So Saffron . Some of the strawberries were stamped straight onto the whisper white layer and others were decoupaged and popped onto dimensionals. Here s a close up

Check out the SWUS blog, the DT have some wonderful samples on show and don't forget that by entering a card or a project you will be in with a chance to win a free pass at our next round of online classes!!!

So my lovely shopping spree, well not a lot was bought. The sales are on and I HATE sales, I mean I love the prices being slashed but I hate millions of people (felt like there was) pushing and showing their way past you like you're invisible. I did managed a few bits and I just know you would like a peep, only because I love to have a nosey at other peoples wares. So here s what I got from top left
A pair of Monsoon skinny jeans, I love the little zip detail at the bottom, although I will wear those with my long boots a lot so useless really. A pair of red hot leather shoes from Schuh, love those and I know I will wear them tons. Then top right a few boring cardigans in this season's hot shades, I live in plain vest tops with a little cardi over, so those brightly coloured ones will stop me from looking too boring (they are from Wallis, Miss Selfridges and River Island). The hot pink top on the top is a sleeveless going out top (say that one fast a couple of times LOL), I love the bright colour and the colour loves my skin which was surprising as I never wore anything that colour around my face.

Bottom right photo is a lovely necklace from Monsoon, those that know me will spot the consistency here, I love wearing chunky jewellery, check those colours out, they will go with nearly everything in my wardrobe, FAB I say.

And lastly some yummy Summer scent. Is by Anna Sui and is called Flight of Fancy, a lovely light, exotic fruity smell perfect for Summer day wear. I had a bottle of it when it was released in 2007 so I thought why the hell not, I loved it then and I love it now. Also the bottle and packaging is soo very pretty, I shall have it out on display on my bedside table. So my lovelies this is my haul, not a lot but the best bit is that the whole lot cost me only £120. Happy days !!

Speak soon, Monica xxx

Our First Retreat.............

..............WAS GREAT!!!! Wooohoo, we had such a blast I cannot even tell you, I met some wonderful people (HELOOOO LADIES if you're reading this **waves madly**) and didn't want to come home, I could have easily spend a whole week with them. The classes were really well received and I was so relieved, because to tell you the truth I always worry when designing classes, I worry they won't be good enough, challenging enough, teach enough you get my drift, so to have positive feedback was great and of course very reassuring. Natalie and Zoe designed some fabulous classes themselves, in fact I so wish I could have sit down and make them myself, but as it happened we had plenty of running about when we were not teaching so I didn't get a chance. The venue was perfect, the rooms were gorgeous ( you even got a pillow menu to choose from- v. decadent), food was delicious and plentyfull all in all it was PERFECT> We had positive feedback from the delegates and I am pleased to tell you that we are doing it ALL OVER AGAIN. The next one will be in February (Guildford same venue, exact dates to be confirmed in a few days), and we also decided to do one a bit more central for those who expressed an interest but the travelling put them off, we are talking March in Stratford. YAY!!

I have put together a photo collage from the weekend, I have to say there were not many pictures taken on my camera, I have been so busy LOL. The main picture shows the table settings, top left sweet Cate who is pregnant with her first baby and wore a super cute t-shirt that said **Baby under construction**, bottom left a picture of the pillow gifts which consisted of a stamped tile topped with an aromatherapy candle, then various classes, packed kits, Christmas ornaments that were used to decorate the tables for the Christmas party on Saturday night ( I am sure there are photos of me and Nat dressed as father Christmas and Mrs. Christmas, I was the later and those suits were really hot). It was a wonderful weekend and best of all I left having made new friends and left with memories that I will treasure forever and I cannot wait for the next one. I will see you again very soon hugs Monica xxx

Birthday Passionette !!!

I HAVE SCHEDULED THIS POST BEFORE i LEFT FOR MY WEEKEND AND IT DIDN'T WORK, SO APOLOGIES TARA THIS IS SO LATE!!! M xxx

YAY!! Is sweet Tara's birthday today!!!!
You know I'm having fun and games at our first SWUS Retreat but I have scheduled this post before I left . Here is the card I have made for Tara

Her favourite colour is lilac, and I have to say I still struggle with this colour. I can only think to pair it with Green and it took all I had to steer away from that. But I am pleased with how it turned up in the end, even thought it took me ages to decide. Sorry about the bad angle I was trying to get it photographed in my lunch hour on Thursday before I have sent it, so I have rushed and only took a few shots unfortunately none were very good. The colours used here are Lavender Lace and So saffron. The lavender lace layer was stamped with the Baroque Motifs and the edges were sponged with Orchid Opulence. Martha Stewart fancy punch and the flowers are from the stamp set Happiness Always (level 3 hostess). Tara HAPPY BIRTHDAY my love, I hope you like your card and I hope you will have a super day. Hugs M xxx

A gift for Josh...

Hello again, ooh I am sooooo excited, there s only 3 more sleeps till our first SWUS Retreat!!!!!!! I am still busy packing and double checking kits and I cannot wait, I just know we are going to have the best time ever, I love crafty get togethers. Sadly I cannot share anything with you yet but I have a few projects that I have done a few weeks ago. On 4th of July Claudia one of my bestest friends celebrated her Birthday, you may also remember from this blog that in January she gave birth to her first baby boy the ever so sweet Joshua. Here's a few items I have made her.
Firstly the card

Tempting Turquoise and So saffron, a really fresh and summery combo. The stamp set used *True Friend* is one I haven't touched in ages and what I've decided to use. I love how you can create your own beautiful backgrounds with just one stamp and some ink, and I have used Tempting Turquoise to stamp the main medallion onto whisper white, I have also added a clear gem to the center of each one. The saffron flower has been glittered using the heat and stick powder and dazzling diamonds, the turquoise circle was made with the tab punch, the slightly bigger saffron ones were cut out with the Coluzzle system. Some saffron striped grosgrain ribbon ties everything together.

Then I have made a waterfall album, using some photos of baby Josh. Some of them are not very good ones as I have pinched them off facebook so they were very small, but Clau and Leigh can easily replace those ones as they are only stuck down with repo adhesive.

The Cover

Of course I used Wild About You, this is probably my most loved set, I have made cards for 65 years old, men and women, children you name it, I just love it! And just how cute are those paisley elephants? To make them I have stamped the paisley background in Bashful Blue then I have clear embossed the elephants over and cut them out. The stick on letters come from my scrapbooking stash. Basic Gray, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery is the colour combo.

First page

The photos I have worked with are absolutely adorable, Leigh( Josh's dad) is a wonderful photographer and I really wanted to keep the pages clean and simple. Not only that but because of the nature of the album pages needed to be flat with no bumpy embellishments. Next 2 pages, I have stamped the cute tiny owl from the Forest Friends in versamark and added a square clear button over it, the eyes lined up with the holes perfectly. I have also added some journalling labels for mum and dad to add a few facts and details.Next two pages and again simple accents and stamped backgrounds. Just how adorable is Josh? I cannot wait to meet him in September.A celery giraffe of course, what else? LOL, and the last two pagesThese are the ones that will need changing but how about that cheeky grin. I smiled putting every page together, such a cutie pie.!!

So I am hoping mum and dad will take some pleasure in browsing this little album, but I couldn't post those out without sending Josh something and after spending ages thinking what to get him I have finally settled onto a little elephant from Russ, a soft toy made from Eco friendly cotton.

I fell in love with him and I can just imagine baby Josh nibbling and sucking on his trunk. Too cute. Oh and apparently one of J Lo's babies was photographed with one of those recently, so I thought to myself, if is good enough for J Lo.... LOL.

Well that s it from me today, off to sort some clothes out for the weekend as I'm in work all day tomorrow, then Friday morning hairdresser and after that I am travelling down to Guildford. I will have some posts scheduled while I m away and I have some recent reasons to celebrate, so I might have some candy for grabs who knows? See you soon M xxx

Etsy finds

Woohooo is me again !!! gosh I must be feeling ill LOL>
Ok unless you know me personally you might not know that I am a definite girly girl, and a mag pie for sure as I love everything that shines and shimmers and sparkle, all girly things like make up and shoes and clothes and handbags and jewellery... hang on did I say jewellery? I did, and a few weeks ago I have discovered something that truly made me go weak at the knees. I come across this wonderful talented seller on Etsy . Well I could have bought the whole entire shoperoonie. I love dots and rounds and spheres and these beaded ones are lush. I ended up buying this and this to matchI also ordered a pair of earrings like these ones and a pair like these in a colour called clementine mmmm. Honestly I cannot tell you how excited I am about them so much so that I went on a mahoosive shopping spree and bought everything I needed to make my own beaded spheres. Of course I first had to learn how to bead as I have never did any beading in my life, and managed to find some tutorials for the basic stitch which I have now mastered, but not found one that clearly explains how to decrease this particular stitch (is called peyote or gourd) around a wooden sphere. I also don't really have any spare time to sit down and bead at the mo but soon I shall be a bit more free again so please if you are beading master or indeed know someone that is and can help let me know I would be forever grateful to you. Here s my first attempt at some and while the beads are covered they are by no mean perfect, and I want perfect otherwise I wont be able to wear them. I also know that realistically I cannot afford to keep spending lots of money on more jewellery from this wonderful artist on Etsy(I wish I could) and it would be great if I could learn properly to make them for myself, I could have them in an array of styles and colours to match my every outfit ahhhhhhhh.

I also have a card to share, and I really like how this turned out apart from the scalloped layer, is too wide and spoils the overall look a bit, never noticed it only after I took the photo.

Scene in the Garden stamp set, the vase was stamped three times using the the SMAJ to perfectly align the images and then they were watercoloured using the wonder crayons which I absolutely love, card stock is Brocade Blue the designer paper is Certainly Celery, Choc Chip grosgrain ribbon and some gold brads. I have added some dazzling diamonds to the reeds for a subtle sparkle and the sentiment is from the Sincere Salutations set. Thank you and I so hope I will have some comments from some beaders extraordinaire. Big hugs my blogging buddies M xxx

Birthday Passionette !!!

Helloo, well like promised I am here sooner than last time when I blogged. I had a week full of birthdays. The first one on Friday was my lovely downline Jules birthday. She is the most successful member of my SU team and an extremely lovely, lovely lady, I am lucky to know her and lucky she is in my team. I have made and sent her this card

Julie s favorite colour is brown and she is also well known for her love of cupcakes, however I knew she would probably get her fair share of cupcakes cards and goodies so I went for an old favorite of mine A Rose is a Rose. I have not seen a bad card made with this set, I love it!!! I paired the ever so yummy Chocolate Chip with So saffron and Really Rust for a tone on tone effect. I used a nestie to cut a window in my chocolate layer which was embossed using a cuttlebug folder, and stamped the So Saffron layer behind the frame with the big stamp from the Fresh Cuts set. What you probably can't see very well from the picture is that the saffron layer has embossed gold edges, to do this I simply swiped a versamark pad over the edges then dip them in gold powder and heated them. Julie I hope you liked your card and I hope you had a wonderful day my love . Hugs M xx

Next I am sharing the card I have made for the SWUS weekly challenge, the theme was children birthday and I have made a card from one sister to another. I used the Big Bold Birthday stamp set

Colour scheme is a bright and girlie one, Certainly Celery, Pumpkin Pie and Regal Rose, I have used a bit of designer paper here, Sweet Always and Pumpkin Pie. The sentiment was pieced together using the Daily Flexible Phrases. I love those zingy summery shades. So have a go yourself and don't forget you can win a free pass to our next round of Stamp With us online.
Yesterday it was my good friend's Claudia s birthday as well, she lives in Seattle now and I will share her card and pressie in a post tomorrow. Clau hope you had a fabulous and Happy Birthday and the party went well. M xx
And guess what? I am heading to another family celebration in a couple of hours. Have a wonderful Sunday big hugs Monica xxx
