Artistic Etchings- Shutter Card

Hello there I hope you’re enjoying your Sunday, weather here has been so mixed this last few days.
I spent the bestest few days with one of my good friends Moira a demonstrator from France. She stayed with us for a few days and we crafted till the wee hours of the morning indulged in midnight feasts drank a few bottles of fizzy and had a  really great time and she enabled me to a Thermomix (I NEED one now do you have one? let me know if you do), and I am so missing her today. I absolutely loved having her here and I cannot wait till I fly to France to craft in her lovely room. I haven’t got any pictures at all would you believe it? we were so busy working on a very special project that I will share with you later along with the disaster that couldn’t be averted, and didn’t took one photo at all.
Anyway enough blah blah I am sharing a commission I had to make for someone, a 21 Birthday card.
I am not good with personalizing cards but needs must and all that and this is what I ended up with.

Is a Shutter card and I have to admit the first one I have ever made , I know I must be the last crafter in the land to attempt one of these. I love and admire all the intricate fold cards but not really interested in making them. I always think they are fiddly to do and shy away from them, well I was wrong again as this was way easier that it looked .
I have used the gorgeous Artistic Etchings stamp set from the main Stampin’Up! catalogue and the Love letter designer paper collection. They go together really well and were an obvious choice for a not to girly 21 year old.

I won’t provide directions and measurements as you can easily find dozens of tutorials online just search for shutter cards.
I have also made a display box inspired by my wonderful and talented friend Jenny Moors.

PAPER: Basic Black, Riding hood Red and Very Vanilla  card stock, Love letter designer paper
INK: Basic Black, Riding hood Red
STAMPS: Artistic Etchings, Broadsheet Alpha, Sincere Salutations, Just Perfect Alphabet
TOOLS:  11/4” , 1 3/8” circle, Large Oval Large Scallop Oval, Extra Large flower punches
ACCESSORIES: Basic Black taffeta ribbon, Rhinestones, Filigree brads.
Right I am off tomorrow is my first day as a Full Time Stampin’Up! demonstrator , I cannot wait!! you watch I will still be in my pj’s by 2pm LOL>

Vintage Daisy

Hello there I hope you’re having a great week, I have been so busy at work lately and I find I am worn out by the time I get home, but is nearly weekend again so onwards and upwards.
I have a few friends who are experiencing a bit of a tough time right now and I needed to make some sweet cards to brighten their day.
I am still working on the vintage and layering style and I had another go.

I have used a vanilla card blank and layered some Newsprint designer paper. Next I brayered some so saffron ink over the blank and the paper, I find that the quickest way to add a bit of shading to anything big or small is with the brayer. The crumb cake layer was embossed on the Big Shot. Next I cut some daisies from Pink Pirouette card and edged them in pretty in pink ink. The butterfly from Strength and Hope was stamped in black, cut out then positioned on the scrunched flower. Bling, I added some bling of course then stamped a decorative frame in Baja breeze and punched out. The sentiment from Sincere Salutations was stamped and punched with the large oval. I didn’t stop there though, oh no!! LOL I cut some swirls and added some crumb cake seam binding which ended up being ruffled.

And then I called it quits, above a closer view of the main group, I really like this pink is nice and very subtle. I hope the girls enjoyed my card and I hope you did to :).

Nature Walk

Hello there and Happy Monday !!!  I had a very busy weekend how was yours? Yesterday it was class time again and we had a lot of fun, everyone finished their projects in the allocated time slot which is my ultimate goal, I do crack the whip though , only kidding.  Aaand I made raspberries cupcakes !!! HOWEVER  in spite of not forgetting to take my camera with me I didn’t manage to take any photos as my battery was flat. I managed to leave my camera on after downloading the last set of photos to my computer, so close but no cigar I’m afraid. Here’s one of the cards I sent out this last week. It was for the lovely Jo A one of my dear Passionettes. She is going through a bit of bad but this super duper girlie will be al right I am sure as she is such a positive person and takes it all into her stride. I will be keeping in touch with her just to make sure she is doing ok. Glad you liked the card Jo hugs to you.

I used Nature Walk again as I had it out on the desk and because I like it. Jo likes pink and I used Pretty in pink here with Vanilla, Certainly Celery and So Saffron. The sentiment is from the Sincere Salutations, I must have bought this set 3 years ago and I can honestly say that I cannot ever tire of it, it works so well with so many of our punches and it looks so right on every card a fave sentiment set for sure.

I bet you won’t be able to see it but the butterfly has been coloured using the marvellous markers and then glazed with crystal effects for a enamelled look.
Next I am showing you a card you will have seen on my blog before, is one I did for our last Quarterly team training event. An owl in a box.

I have sent a kit to make this card to all my Virtual Club members along with a tutorial on how to make it this month. I have also set them a challenge and might  need your help at some point to decide a winner.

This is such a cute idea, not my own I have to add, but cannot find the creator right now. I tend to draw the feature on my owls for quickness and less messing about with small pieces and I do tend to make a bit more of an effort than this picture shows. I must have been rushing.

Birthday Passionette...........

Hi there today is a very special day, because is Jo's Happy Birthday.
 Jo is a sweetheart she joined my team over a year ago and she loves being a demonstrator, I don't think she ever missed a training event she loves people and our get together.

Jo's favourite colour is blue and I know just what you're thinking THAT S NOT very blue but it has got some blue in it. It also has the new Soft Suede card and ribbon. I added some Mustard stamped with the Medallion  background. The sculpted flowers which are all the rage at the minute have been made with the small heart punch you need 8 heart shapes for each bloom they look lovely and very dimensional. Polka dotted yumm yum ribbon and the branches from the lush Bird Punch.
Lovely and elegant I hope Jo will like.

HELLO and welcome to our 2010 Mini Catalogue Blog hop. In just a few more days Stampin'Up! will be ready to launch the new Mini Catalogue which is very exciting news as it is just delicious. So a group of demonstrators got together and organized a blog hop featuring fabulous projects all showcasing brand new products. EXCITED????????? I bet you are...

So I reckon you will have arrived to my blog from this lovely and talented girlie. I love what Jo's done I think I will have to re create one of those folders.

My projects for today are focused on one of the new stamp sets in the mini. It is called Vintage Vogue and is just stunning, plus it has the benefit of a matching wheel.

I have demonstrated this lovely gift box at our Regional training in Sheffield and the Experience Event in the evening, it is really easy to make and I have a bit of a tutorial for you.

Take one sheet of A4 Bashful Blue card stock , score the length at 7cm, 14 cm, 21cm and 28 cm. Turn it portrait way and make one score at 7cm.

Next cut away the small rectangle at the end and make three angled cuts on the score lines. I have used the matching wheel to add a lovely background to my piece of card.

Add some sticky strip to the narrow flap, line both outside edges together and glue shut.

Add more adhesive to the bottom flaps and glue those down. Fill your box with your gift or treat of choice then simply pinch the sides together. You can glue the top shut or add some ribbon like I did here. To make it easier to tie the ribbon I have used a tiny clip from our clip assortment to help me. Your gift box should look like this

You are now ready to decorate as you wish. For the front I have made a made a topper from a layer of black card measuring 7cm x 5.5 cm, then a layer of barely banana cut at 6.5 cm x 5 cm, and a layer of whisper white cut at 6cm x 4.5 cm. I have used the rock n roll technique to add visual dimension to those beautiful flowers by inking in barely banana first then rolling the edges of the stamp on the bashful blue pad.
Made a matching card as well.

My colours for those projects are Bashful Blue, Barely Banana and Basic Black.
I cannot wait for you to see what the other Jo on the loop has got for you, her project is soo sweet.

Hello how are you? sorry I am being really mean teasing you. I will stop that.

What do I have to show you today? Firstly a card I have sent to a very lovely lady who is going through a bit of a rough patch. I am sure she will be just fine but wanted to send her card to let her know that I was thinking of her.



I have used this wonderful stem from Live Your Dream stamp set, and stamped using the markers to add more than one colour to the whole image. I then stamped the heads again and cut them out and mounted them onto dimensional.

The colours used are So Saffron, Regal Rose and Old Olive, sentiment from the Sincere Salutations.

Next I have to show you the cards I made to thank everyone for ordering of the last chance list through me.


I just love this set so much, so much, I think is got to do with my insane obsession with symmetry and everything round. Circle Circus new stamp set available from 1st of October, Almost Amethyst, Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum card stock, Elegant Eggplant, Orchid Opulence and Perfect Plum ink pads. The sentiment from Pocket Silhouette was stamped on twill after seeing it on Emma's blog. She is one amazing stamper I just love her work. Those cards are 4x4 inches. Etsy finds

Woohooo is me again !!! gosh I must be feeling ill LOL>

Ok unless you know me personally you might not know that I am a definite girly girl, and a mag pie for sure as I love everything that shines and shimmers and sparkle, all girly things like make up and shoes and clothes and handbags and jewellery... hang on did I say jewellery? I did, and a few weeks ago I have discovered something that truly made me go weak at the knees. I come across this wonderful talented seller on Etsy . Well I could have bought the whole entire shoperoonie. I love dots and rounds and spheres and these beaded ones are lush. I ended up buying this and this to matchI also ordered a pair of earrings like these ones and a pair like these in a colour called clementine mmmm. Honestly I cannot tell you how excited I am about them so much so that I went on a mahoosive shopping spree and bought everything I needed to make my own beaded spheres. Of course I first had to learn how to bead as I have never did any beading in my life, and managed to find some tutorials for the basic stitch which I have now mastered, but not found one that clearly explains how to decrease this particular stitch (is called peyote or gourd) around a wooden sphere. I also don't really have any spare time to sit down and bead at the mo but soon I shall be a bit more free again so please if you are beading master or indeed know someone that is and can help let me know I would be forever grateful to you. Here s my first attempt at some and while the beads are covered they are by no mean perfect, and I want perfect otherwise I wont be able to wear them. I also know that realistically I cannot afford to keep spending lots of money on more jewellery from this wonderful artist on Etsy(I wish I could) and it would be great if I could learn properly to make them for myself, I could have them in an array of styles and colours to match my every outfit ahhhhhhhh.

I also have a card to share, and I really like how this turned out apart from the scalloped layer, is too wide and spoils the overall look a bit, never noticed it only after I took the photo.

Scene in the Garden stamp set, the vase was stamped three times using the the SMAJ to perfectly align the images and then they were watercoloured using the wonder crayons which I absolutely love, card stock is Brocade Blue the designer paper is Certainly Celery, Choc Chip grosgrain ribbon and some gold brads. I have added some dazzling diamonds to the reeds for a subtle sparkle and the sentiment is from the Sincere Salutations set. Is Sally's Happy Birthday today!! Sally was my first ever recruit and she joined my team soon after I joined myself. This is the card I made for her special day

Sally loves the colour pink so of course I included this into my card but I decided to stay clear from the *too pink* combo and paired a Pretty in Pink nestability layer with Always Artichoke and some So Saffron designer paper for a feminine feel. The main image comes from the ever so beautiful Soft Summer stamp set and sentiment from the Sincere Salutations set, taffeta ribbon in Pretty in Pink was tied in a bow. Birthday Passionette !!!

Hello have you had a lovely weekend? I did the weather was nice although a bit breezy but the sun was shining nonetheless which is always nice.
Tina one of my lovely Passionettes is celebrating her HAPPY BIRTHDAY today so I have made her a card, Tina's favorite colour is pink and boy did I made her a PINK card!!! I combined it with a challenge set by my SCS sisters and that was to make a monotone card and here it is: Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink with a hint of black. I used the level 2 hostess stamp set Spring Solitude flowers coloured using the Marvellous Markers, Polka Dot background was stamped in Versamark and embossed in white, and the frilly punch is one I had for ages not sure who makes it though (it cuts and embosses), sentiment from the Sincere Salutations and striped grosgrain ribbon in Pretty in Pink. Tina Happy birthday sweetheart hope your day was full of nice surprises and i hope you liked your pinkified card. Hugs M xxx

Talking about birthdays I was still receiving card by Saturday, so here it goes I am sharing some more special cards kind friends have made for me.

This pretty frame came from my dear friend Michelle, we share our birthday and I haven't got a photo of the card I made for MichelleI I sent it at the last minute as always LOL) but I made one exactely the same in a different colour that I will share in my next post so you can see it then.

How cool is this? I love everything about this, the Washington Apple ds paper is glorious, I adore it Michelle what a great way to showcase those papers!!! She also made me a cardMmm yummy colours and the sentiment made me go weak, thank you sweetheart so much.

Then the lovely and ever so generous Steph, this is the sweetest girl you will ever meet with a heart as big as the White House. She sent me this beauty here which I absolutely adore

Paula is my local crafting buddy, I introduced her to card making when I moved here 5 years ago, and since then she amassed a huge crafting collection THREE times the size of mine( I am not kidding you !!). her card is really beautiful, shame I cannot photograph the sparkle properly she used a dazzling diamonds along with the heath and stick powder over this gorgeous image, is it Rubber Romance? A card of thanks

Hello all, my dear God, what about this weather we ve been having just lately? is only good if you re a duck I suppose, the good old British Summer hey?
The card I m sharing today is one of 7 I ve made, I had a few thank you s to send so decided to follow a nice and quick layout that I often use for my cards, this is especially good when you have a lot of cards to make and don't have loads of time to do it. Also used an all time favorite colour scheme, Old Olive designer paper( I love those papers, the patterns are a great scale for card making) , Regal Rose, Choc. Chip on Kraft card stock base( love this as well, wish we could buy it individually), one of the flower head from Seeing Spots was stamped on a circle punched out from Pretty in Pink, also Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon has been used.

I ve been so busy with stuff lately but unfortunately I can't share i am planning some more videos too but like everybody I just wish I could add about 5 hours to every 24 hour day hee hee I m sure there are a lot of you that would like that. The celebrations at the Gogo HQ have started also if you joined UStamp you would have had an email to register on the site, all exciting stuff. Hugs and kisses M xxx

I love sundays

Well I like the ones when there s no chores to catch up with and c****y jobs to be doing altho there s plenty of them I could find but nothing is desperate right now lol. So I ve played and managed to do nothing fit for showing hinestly everything I ve tried just went in the bin apart from one thing but I m not going to show you it today, you will have to wait till tmrrw. yeah I m planing on blogging tmrrw. as well only cos I ve got something very exciting for you. So I m showing you some older stuff this time, I m starting with the birthday card for the swap that I didn t have a photo off to show you in my last post.

I cannot stop using *Simply Said* I just love the versatility it provides. Firstly I ve stamped the heart sentiment outline in Cert. Celery and I used the same ink to stamp my birthday wishes sentiment form *Sincere Salutations* set, then for my blue heart I took my solid heart stamped in Versamark pad first then in Basful blue pad then I ve stamped on a piece of whisper white, I took my heat and stick powder poured it over the image then heat it with my heat gun until it changed then I ve sprinkled ultrafine glitter all over and heat again to fix it. This powder is amazing it is not like an embossing powder altho it works in the same way it is like a glue that grabs your glitter and then when heat gently it just melts the glitter into that glue and this means that there is no shedding of the glitter, like there would be when you would just use glue. I love it and i find myself using it all the time. PP papers are from the Cutie Pie collection the white layer was punched out using the spiral punch from SU.
Next is a card I ve had to send to a dear friend.

I ve used the truck from * Loads of love* and my *loads of love accesories* to make this bright card. The papers were from Cutie Pie set Certainly Celery and Old Olive cardstock and heat and stick treatment was added to the flowers. I ve coloured the truck using ink pads as I wanted a softer look and coloured the flowers with markers. Hope it brightened her day.
Now my next one I should not post today really as it was made for Trisha my teamie and her birthday is not till tmrrw. but will go and warn her not to look on the thread as soon as I m posting this.lol



I know this is not a SU set hee hee, but I just wanted to use this Bella as I so like it. I did add a SU sentiment so that counts lol. I ve used papers from either Dovecraft or Papermania ( can t honestly remember and I ve had since january and only got round to use them) Love the brightness of this card I ve used Prismas to colour the image and yep you guessed it more heath and stick for the frosting on the cupcake. I ve left this image big so you could click on it to see the shimery effect better.
Ok I ve git something to share with you, I m seriously considering adding some video tutorials to my blog, I m not sure what you guys think? Is just that i know many crafters out there are quite visual and you know what they say a picture is worth a thousands words, and I always love watching tutorials and I know you guys would probably do too. So I will do some reaserch on this and keep you posted. That s it for today see ya !! M xx

Mid week posting

Hey guys!! Hope every one of you that visit me is well, here I am on a wednesday night bloggin! woohoo how good I m I getting? lol

Before I show you what I ve been up to recently I need to tell you how I ve had a really nice suprise that really touched me recently, my blog was nominated as being inspirational I mean WOW!! talk about getting that warm glow feeling. Check out this blog it is fabulos I ve found so many talented crafters because of it. Oh and thank you for thinking my work is inspirational.

Right then, like promised in my last post, I will share with you some cards I ve made for a swap I m hosting on UKS. I ve joined in four groups (the themes for me were, male cards, get well cards, wedding cards and birthday cards) I ve only got 3 to show cos I haven t photographed the birthday ones but I will do. Ok so my first one is the wedding card.

Because of the number of cards I had to do I ve decided to keep things simple as you can see altho it looks quite simple it is not as there s quite a few layers and detail. I ve used lovely textured blanks made form PaperMill cardstock, SU very vanilla and so saffron was used for the layers and long tags, I ve embossed the vanilla layer with the CB swiss dots folder and every time I use one I thank God they exist, love them. Now for my focal image I ve used the heart from the *Simply Said* set from Stampin Up this is such a versatile set I must have used it so far for all occassions going( I m getting my moneys worth lol), I ve stamped and embossed the heart in gold then I ve coloured the flowers with my SU markers ( I ve used Barely Banana and a touch of So Saffron) , I ve punched the heart out with the 1 3/8 circle punch and layered it onto a scaloped layer a trail of glitter adds some sparkle. The long tags were cut with my Expression form the tags bags and boxes cart, and the sentiment is SU from the * Ocassional Greeting* set, all this is topped off with some wide grosgrain ribbon ( my most favorite) in Very Vanilla.

The next card is my Get Well Soon card, and I ve choosen a pink and green combo definately a nice fresh bright combination, just what you ll need to brighten someones day if they re under the wheather.

I ve used the gorgeous paisley background stamp as I just love the effect and you get instant result and fast, I ve used a Pretty in Pink base stamped with Pixie Pink , a green scalloped border was cut on the expression from the Accent Essential cart, the white layer was stamped using a cute little stamp from the Shapes and Shadows set from SU with certainly celery ink , and the sentiment from the Sincere Salutations set, was stamped in Pixie Pink ink. The floral embelisment was made by first stampin into the versamark pad and then into the pixie pink ink, heat and stick powder was poured all over the image heated and then glitter was sprinkled all over, heat again and you end up with a shimery image that is quite textured and best of all theres no shedding of the glitter. Added more texture with some trim that i ve bought from one of my trips to Romania and a crystal brad for extra sparkle.

Last one for today is my male entry and of course I just had to use my beer mug from the *cheers to you* set from SU.

Chocolate chip card base embossed with the CB distressed stripes folder, More mustard cardstock and some dotty paper from PM for the layers, the mug was coloured using the markers and then diamond glaze applied over the image. I ve used my stamp a ma jig to stamp the sentiment in a continuos line as it didnt work for my layout the way it is placed.

I m not sure if you d realised by now but I ve used the same layout for all those cards and I just wanted to show you that if you sell your cards and you need large numbers this is an easy way of doing them so you dont spend hours devising layouts. I ve completed a layout

I know you d probably be as shocked as I am but i have actually made a scrapbook layout in my preparation for a workshop that Anna has hosted last night. It was a fabulos night, the ladies were all seasoned crafters so they ve sailed throught the make and take I ve designed, and managed to bag themselves a great range of Su stamps and goodies. It was such a succesful workshop, Anna s hostess benefits were two free sets of stamps and £60.00 worth of free merchandise ( she got some great benefits), Anna thanks for having me and thanks to all the girls for coming, waves and hugs to you all. And sI ve also met the gorgeous Avril who is a total virgin as far as stamping goes and she s ordered the fabulos carmaking kit *Happy Day* and I cannot wait to see how she gets on with some paper, rubber and ink, Avril already makes beautiful intricate works of art cos she loves to cross stich( Man I wish i could do that as i love the effect). So Avril if you re reading this, I would love to see what you ve come up with.
Ok so i d better show you the page, my subject is of course my delicious little nephew Luca ( love this little boy so much ahhh )

Everything on here is from SU, I was talking with the girls last night and altho most of them were primarily cardmakers they did scrapbooking as well , but they seemed to have started with cardmaking wich is where I ve started, so I ve explained how when I ve finally got scrabooking I never asociated it with stamping, it was more on the waves of patterned papers chipboard, ribbons, buttons and all of the accents but since I ve joined SU I m starting to see scrapbooking in a whole new light, so I ve tried it here, I ve used nothing but stamps with very little patterened paper, and you know what? I really like how it turned up. Used that little cute giraffe form the *bundle Of Joy* and the complete set called *Little Pieces* that I ve punched out and stuck with 3 d pads. Colours used throughout were Alaways artichoke, Bashful blue, So saffron and Choc. chip.

I ve made another criss cross card, and I ve made it just cos I wanted to use my cutie pie papers.

I m not happy

I think I ve broken my camera, well not really broken it, but did something to it and now all my settings are gone to pot, and I don t know how to make it better so you will have to put up with not so good piccies for now till I can sort it out. First of all I want to show you the card that belonged in the last post (take one set and make three cards)

I ve found this colour combo on SCS and decided to try it myself (not quite navy,so saffron, bashful blue,brilliant blue, and black staz on), I dont think I m overly hot on it but like the way the card came out, I ve also found a pocket card tutorial on there too (I tell you that site is fabulos!!) Note the wonky embossing at the top? hee hee I ve done that with my crop o dile and it was the last step, as you can see it didn t quite worked out like I wanted it to, but I wasn t going to start the card all over again. Oh no lol

Right my next card I ADORE!!!!! I wanted this set for like EVER!! if you remeber back when my gorgeous nephew Luca was born I ve hand drew this image to use for his card. But would you belive it I still haven t got it yet? I did however manged to get a few stamped images from a fellow SU demo Claire (thank you so much darling)

Isn t it just adorable? I ve coloured the little fella with SU markers (watch out for a tutorial coming up on this), used papers from Le Jardin collection and the colours used I think make such a change from the pastel ones used for babies( I m not saying I don t like pastels, I do a lot, but I want new fresh combos to work with from time to time so it dosent get boring) more mustard cardstock, choc chip and this delightfull blue in the paterened paper. YUM!! Also grosgrain ribbon and bits from the Hodgepodge Hardware.

In the same set there is a gorgeous teddy bear and used this along with my Big Deal Alphabet set to create this baby girl card.

Im so annoyed as this photo in particular it is so much better IRL, certainly celery cardstock, rose red layer edged with my pinking shears, polka dot background stamp( I love this stamp!) and pink passion ink were used to stamp the dots and the letters. Teddy coloured using a mixture of markers and ink pads. Cute? I tell you what, very very quick to make!!!

One more card to show you today and this time is a waterfall card. I have not made one of those for like 10 years lol, but I recently made one for the GOGO design team assignment and loved it, so I ve tried another one for the limited supply challenge on SCS, you were supposed to only use circles on your card apart from the sentiment

Sets used for this are In the spotlight, Seeing spots and Little pieces, cardstock certainly celery and choc chip., inks used are tempting turquoise, pumpkin pie, chocolate chip, summer sun brads and a jumbo eyelet, also used the dotty backround stamped in versamark on the choc cardstock.Here s a view of the pulled tab

Now I see so many questions about watercolouring all the time on the boards, and I have seen so many brilliant tutorials out there on the subject, but I thought I will add my own to the list of many so please tune in later this week and I ll try and lift some of the mistery that is watercoloring.
